Fabric care
General washing guidelines
- Always check the care label for care instructions to care for your garments and avoid unnecessary shrinking or damage. We have attached care instructions in the description box for each item.
-
Hand washing is more kind to garments than machine washing. When washing in a machine, you can almost always wash colder and more gently than advised on the care label and this is also more kind to the garment and planet.
- Do not wash more than necessary, we often wash our garments more than needed and every wash wears on the item and fades its color. Instead of washing, hang your garment outside to air ventilate, use a steamer to freshen it up, and spot treat stains.
- Try to avoid tumble drying as much as possible as this also wears on the garment. Hang or lay flat to dry depending on the garment instead of tumble drying it.
How to care for your swimwear?
-
Rinse with fresh, cold water after use to prevent garment from becoming chlorine damaged over time after swimming in pools, etc.
-
Dry in the shade after rinsing & do not hang in direct sun light.
-
Occasionally hand-wash with mild soap – do not machine wash or tumble dry.
-
Apply sunscreen approximately 15 minutes before putting on your costume, as oil and/or lotion can deteriorate the fabric.
-
Never leave swimwear rolled in a wet towel – use caution as your towel could be holding in the chlorinated water!
-
Never leave hanging dripping wet, without first rinsing as above.
-
Never use tumble dryer or heater on your swimwear.
General Tips for Both Wool & Cashmere
-
Store Properly: Store wool and cashmere items in a cool, dry place. To maintain their shape and prevent moths, use breathable garment bags or cotton storage bags. Avoid using plastic bags, as they can trap moisture, leading to mildew.
-
Avoid handing wool and cashmere items.
-
Avoid Over-Washing: Wool and cashmere are naturally odor-resistant and anti-bacterial, which means they don't need to be washed after every wear. Spot cleaning or airing out garments between wears can extend the time between washes.
General Tips for cotton attire
Cotton is a natural, breathable fabric that's comfortable and easy to wear—but it still deserves some TLC to stay at its best. Here’s how to take care of your cotton dresses:
-
Wash in cold or lukewarm water with mild detergent on a gentle cycle.
-
Hand wash delicate or embellished dresses.
-
Avoid bleach unless the dress is pure white.
-
Wash with similar colors to prevent color bleeding.
-
Air dry or tumble dry on low heat to avoid shrinkage.
-
Iron on the cotton setting while slightly damp or use a steamer.
-
Store in a cool, dry place on padded hangers.
-
Turn inside out before washing to protect prints and color.
